Onward And Upward

Hey, now.

With my time in Berlin winding down, I’ve developed a list of things that I still have to do before I take off; a Jack Nicholson/Morgan Freeman venture I call The Bucket List. One of them is exploring an area to the south of the center of Berlin known as Neukolln. It is a popular area with the city’s youth, and is undergoing a bit of a transformation. Lots of new bars popping up, dance clubs, the whole bit. There is also an abandoned airport right in the center, which people naturally have decided to turn into something cool. This is where we find our hero of this short blog post.

Berlin-Templehof

People have taken a little plot of the grounds (of which there is PLENTY) and turned it into a community garden type of thing.

Some commissioned works of art are also there. Remember, this was an airport, folks.

They’re closing all of Berlin’s airports next year, I believe. Tegel and Shonefeld—gone. Apparently there is a mega one being built just outside of town. You guys can calm down.

As I’ve covered in previous posts, I am having some delicious baked treats. Not saying any of the names properly, but that’s the rub. This one was what I had yesterday, and my dear, was it troubling in its deliciousness.
